Morocco Launches First Local Cannabis-Based Medicine at Milan Exhibition

Morocco achieved a significant milestone with Pharma 5 presenting the nation’s first domestically produced cannabis-based medicine at the CPHI exhibition in Milan, Italy, from October 6 to 8. This product represents Morocco’s formal entry into the global medical cannabis market, utilizing legally cultivated cannabis under the National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities (ANRAC).

Three other Moroccan-developed epilepsy medications, approved by ANRAC, have already been authorized for use. Additionally, five medical societies have established protocols for CBD prescription under ANRAC’s oversight. The country’s legal framework, including Law 13.21 and the 17.04 Pharmaceutical Code, mandates that cannabis products contain at least 1 percent THC.
