NAFDAC Seals Four Illegal Pesticide Factories in Kano

NAFDAC sealed four unauthorized pesticide and agrochemical manufacturing sites in Bichi, Kano State on October 11, 2026, as part of a nationwide effort targeting banned chemicals that endanger public health and food safety.
The agency warned that illegal pesticides circulate widely in Nigeria, posing significant risks to consumers, farmers, and environmental health through unregistered products.
Director-General Professor Mojisola Adeyeye stated NAFDAC intensified surveillance to disrupt illegal supply chains and prevent banned agrochemicals from entering markets via cross-border routes and unauthorized channels.
Recent operations in Kebbi State intercepted 5,619 cartons of paraquat-based pesticides and 500 cartons of atrazine-based products during the crackdown.
Adeyeye emphasized that the illegal movement of prohibited pesticides threatens public health, food safety, and environmental integrity across Nigeria.
