NAFDAC Seizes Illegal Herbal Medicine Factory in Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, discovered an illegal herbal medicine production facility in Agege, Lagos State. Products found at the site were found to have falsified registration numbers.
NAFDAC announced the discovery through a statement on its official X account, stating that the operation was initiated after receiving a report about herbal products with fake registration numbers.
The agency's investigative team identified three variants of Asheitu Adams Bitters with the registration number A7-1827L. Verification through NAFDAC’s NAPAMS portal confirmed that this number was assigned to Greentol Cough Syrup, indicating fraudulent use.
NAFDAC urged the public to report suspected illegal manufacturing activities by contacting its call centres at 0800-1-623322 or 0700-1-623322.
