NGX All-Share Index Adds 0.21% as Banking and Oil Stocks Advance

The Nigerian Exchange All-Share Index gained 521.70 points, or 0.21 per cent, to close at 252,635.11 on Monday, September 28, as banking stocks led sector gains and oil and gas shares edged higher.
The index rose from 252,113.41 at the previous close, reaching a new record, according to NGX session figures. Market capitalisation finished near ₦164 trillion after adding about ₦344 billion, based on market close reports.
The Banking Index advanced 1.14 per cent to 2,752.82 points. The Insurance Index gained 0.04 per cent, while the Oil and Gas Index rose just 0.01 per cent to 6,244.45. Eterna climbed 9.62 per cent and Japaul Gold rose 4.15 per cent, offsetting a 1.83 per cent decline in Oando.
Market breadth was positive, with 33 stocks advancing against 23 decliners and 90 unchanged. The session’s rise therefore came with more gainers than losers, though the sector figures show the strongest contribution was in banking rather than a broad energy rally.
The close lifted the benchmark to a fresh peak, while the near-flat Oil and Gas Index shows that sharp moves in a few energy shares did not translate into a comparable sector-wide gain.
