Nigeria’s Economic Progress Under Tinubu Administration

President Bola Tinubu cited the World Bank’s October 2026 Nigeria Development Update, which confirms his administration’s economic reforms are strengthening the economy for sustained growth. The report, titled ‘Beyond the Federal Purse: How Higher Revenues Reshaped State Priorities’, highlights improved economic growth, revenue generation, and fiscal management.
The World Bank found Nigeria’s poverty rate stabilised for the first time since 2019, a development Tinubu attributed to his administration’s removal of the petrol subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange market, and enhanced fiscal discipline.
Despite the Middle East conflict’s impact, the World Bank projects average growth of at least 4.4 per cent between 2026 and 2028, reflecting the positive outcomes of Tinubu’s economic policies.
