Oil Market Optimism Returns Amid 2017 Production Cuts

KOKO Business: Oil Market Optimism Returns Amid 2017 Production Cuts

The oil and gas sector experienced renewed optimism in 2017 following the successful implementation of a production cut agreement among OPEC and key producers including Russia. This collaboration stabilized global supply dynamics and elevated oil prices to their highest point since mid-2015.

Woodmac reported that despite potential profit gains, global exploration activity would not significantly increase in 2018. This forecast contrasts with rising market confidence for the upcoming year.

Moody’s Investors Service projected oil prices would range between $40 and $60 per barrel in 2018, influenced by abundant U.S. natural gas supplies and fluctuating demand patterns.

Moody’s also warned that prices could remain volatile due to U.S. shale production growth, persistent supply gaps, and risks of non-compliance with production cuts, particularly if demand growth slowed.
