OPay Targets Nigerian Exchange After US IPO Plans

OPay has secured board and shareholder approval to pursue a secondary listing on the Nigerian Exchange following its planned U.S. initial public offering. The fintech company disclosed its intention in a Form F-1 registration statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 9, 2026.
This move follows NGX Group’s recent urging of President Bola Tinubu to encourage major Nigerian technology firms to list locally or pursue dual listings. The call came two months after NGX Group made this request.
A domestic listing could broaden investment opportunities for Nigerian investors, deepen the capital market, and connect local shareholders to the digital economy’s growth. This potential benefit aligns with NGX Group’s push to expand corporate wealth creation through local participation.
