More than 100 students from various secondary schools in Ijebu Ode, Ago Iwoye, and Ijebu Igbo were hospitalized following exposure to a toxic gaseous substance. The incident involved multiple healthcare facilities, including the State Hospital in Ijebu Ode and General Hospital in Ijebu Igbo.

A video circulating online shows students experiencing fainting spells and being transported to hospitals after inhaling the gas. The government had previously identified the substance as methane, which was linked to health complications.

Reports indicate that the methane leak has been ongoing since April, with recurring incidents leading to hospitalizations. The gas was said to appear unexpectedly, causing respiratory distress and fainting among students and staff.
