Pakistan Halts Pak-Iran Trade at Key Border Crossings Amid Security Measures

Pakistan suspended trade via the Gabd-Rimdan and Taftan border crossings with Iran on Saturday, according to reports from GWADAR/QUETTA. The move, effective immediately, targets security concerns and smuggling activities. Shahid Rind, Balochistan chief minister’s media and political affairs adviser, stated the temporary closure aims to enhance border security and administrative efficiency.
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei confirmed the closure is temporary, while the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry urged businesses to halt new trade orders with Iran until further notice. Passenger traffic through the Rimdan–Gabd crossing continues, though the crossing previously handled over 4,000 tonnes of LPG daily for Pakistan’s energy needs.
