Petrol Prices Rise Despite Federal Discount

Petrol prices in Abuja increased by up to N29 per litre following the Federal Government’s announcement to mitigate rising fuel costs. Petroleum marketers adjusted prices at multiple stations, including AA Rano and AYM Shafa, raising rates to N1,409 from N1,380.
NNPC Retail outlets and partner retailers like MRS also raised prices, with Azhata’s NNPC Retail increasing to N1,405 from N1,380 and MRS raising to N1,405 from N1,370. These adjustments occurred despite the government’s N66-per-litre discount extending until October 31, 2026.
The discount, launched on October 1 for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, lowered NNPC Retail’s price to N1,339 for digital payments through its mobile app.
