PHED Clarifies Tariff Increases for 24-Hour Electricity Customers

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | PHED Clarifies Tariff Increases for 24-Hour Electricity Customers

The Port Harcourt Distribution Company (PHED) stated that rising electricity bills for certain customers result from feeder upgrades aimed at enhancing power supply. PHED attributed higher tariffs to feeder migrations to Band A, which provides 24-hour electricity. Customers whose feeders were upgraded to deliver continuous power must pay the corresponding tariff rate.

PHED’s Ogwuegbu noted that some customers face increased tariffs after their feeders were migrated to Band A. She emphasized that customers receiving 24-hour electricity through upgraded feeders should pay the adjusted tariff. The company is working to clarify tariff differences across supply bands due to limited customer understanding of how supply levels affect tariffs.
