Regulatory Challenges Hinder Investment in Pakistan

Experts warn that Pakistan's regulatory environment remains a significant barrier to investment. A seminar held at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi highlighted the need for a simpler and more responsive regulatory system to foster innovation and attract business investment.
Participants emphasized that the current regulatory framework, characterized by overlapping rules and complex licensing requirements, hampers the country's competitiveness. They argued that a shift in regulatory DNA from controlling to facilitating markets is essential for economic growth.
The seminar, titled "Transforming the Regulatory State: Pathways to a Dynamic and Competitive Economy," brought together representatives from international regulatory reform practice, business, and government to discuss the impact of outdated procedures on economic development.
