Senate Disputes NMDPRA Petrol Import Records

The Nigerian Senate rejected the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority’s (NMDPRA) records of petrol imports for 2022 and 2023 due to discrepancies. These inconsistencies were highlighted during a meeting on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The Senate Committee on Public Accounts noted differences between NMDPRA’s records and those of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. This led to a decision to summon the heads of NMDPRA, NNPCL, and NEITI to address the issue.
The discrepancies were identified when NMDPRA appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Senator Hassan Dankwambo. The committee aims to reconcile the records and resolve the inconsistencies.
