The Senate expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, recognizing her significant impact on healthcare, infrastructure, and the development of the Niger Delta region.

A motion to honor Uduaghan was introduced by Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, with support from Senators Ned Nwoko, Ede Dafinone, and Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, highlighting her legacy in public service.

Uduaghan, who previously served as Delta State governor from 2007 to 2015, was also a commissioner for health and secretary to the state government before assuming the governorship.

Thomas emphasized Uduaghan's efforts in healthcare delivery, education, and economic diversification, particularly through initiatives aimed at reducing reliance on oil revenue.

As a medical doctor, Uduaghan launched free maternal and under-five healthcare programs during her tenure to enhance access to essential medical services for vulnerable groups.
