SPI Remains Elevated Amid Persistent Inflation Pressures

Pakistan's Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) remained elevated at 11.32% year-on-year for the week ended October 29, 2026, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The index showed a slight weekly decline of 0.35% but remained significantly higher than the same period a year earlier.

The year-on-year SPI reading reflects ongoing cost pressures on energy and selected food items. Global supply concerns, including the US-Israel conflict with Iran and the Houthi confrontation with Saudi Arabia, continue to influence fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices.

The combined SPI stood at 373.51, down from 374.84 in the previous week but still well above the 335.53 recorded a year earlier. The persistence of double-digit SPI growth, particularly in energy, indicates limited near-term relief for households despite the modest weekly dip.
