Students in Kalimantan protested against the Indonesian haze crisis, demanding government action over ongoing forest and land fires. The protest took place outside the Central Kalimantan Governor’s office in Palangkaraya on October 23.

Hundreds of students gathered under an orange sky, wearing masks and waving banners calling for a national emergency declaration to secure more aid. The protest highlighted the severe impact of the haze on public health and visibility.

Protest leader Yuyun Sanjaya urged the provincial government to admit its inability to manage the disaster, so it could be officially classified as a national emergency. A placard criticized officials for their inaction despite the suffering of the public.
