KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Swat Crackdown Targets Ghost Employees

A crackdown on 'ghost' employees has begun in Swat, Pakistan, as authorities take action against individuals who were allegedly not performing their duties.

The Water and Sanitation Services Company in Swat has terminated 13 employees who did not show up for work, according to reports.

These employees were reportedly hired by Members of the Provincial Assembly over the past 13 years and were receiving salaries without working.

Malakand division commissioner Iqbal Hussain has ordered an investigation into the matter and the recovery of public funds paid to those found guilty of misconduct.

Separately, the administration has reclaimed a government bungalow in Swat that was allegedly occupied by Kaleem Saeed for several years.
