Tanzania and Angola have emphasized the need to connect railway networks across Africa to enhance trade and economic growth. President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço have expressed their commitment to improving transport links, which they believe will support cargo movement and regional development.

The leaders specifically mentioned the importance of linking Tanzania’s Central Corridor with Angola’s Benguela Corridor, which is expected to extend connectivity to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

During a visit to Tanzania, President Lourenço discussed ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (Tazara) line up to Kapiri Mposhi, alongside Angola’s rehabilitation of the Benguela Railway.
