Thailand Investigates 19 Firms Linked to Rabbi With Revoked Citizenship

Thai authorities are examining 19 companies connected to Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, following the revocation of his Thai citizenship. The investigation includes assessing whether relatives holding Thai nationality have engaged in any wrongdoing, as stated by Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee on October 30, 2026.
Kantor, who leads the Chabad network in Thailand and is a prominent figure in the country’s Jewish community, is under scrutiny for allegedly continuing to use his US nationality after obtaining Thai citizenship. This was confirmed by officials who noted the breach of citizenship rules.
The Department of Provincial Administration is currently tracing Kantor’s descendants and other individuals who have acquired Thai nationality since his citizenship was revoked.
