Oyo Governor Accuses Federal Government of Misusing NLNG Dividends

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has alleged that President Bola Tinubu's administration diverted Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividends intended for states. Each state was supposed to receive over N250 billion from these payments according to Makinde.

Makinde stated that the funds were transferred to the Federation Account and reconciled, yet the Federal Government spent the money without distributing it to states. He also criticized the delay in payment until after the 2027 elections, arguing that Nigerian welfare should take precedence over political considerations.

The governor emphasized that Oyo State had planned investments using its share to boost economic growth, but the mismanagement of NLNG funds has undermined these efforts.
