Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar Bagudu stated Nigeria’s economic reforms are producing positive outcomes despite early skepticism about their practicality.

Bagudu spoke at a news conference in Bangkok, Thailand, during the 2026 World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings. He credited previous experiences for providing insights to tackle Nigeria’s economic challenges and improve policy execution. The minister also noted that enhanced cooperation among government bodies would help meet Tinubu’s 2030 economic goals.

He praised the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, for supporting the reform process. Bagudu expressed confidence in Nigeria’s international reputation, citing improved governance, transparency, and economic management as key factors. The minister stressed that sustained political will remains critical for maintaining progress.
