Nigeria Aims for 7% Growth Amid Tax Reforms

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Nigeria Aims for 7% Growth Amid Tax Reforms

Nigeria is aiming for an annual economic growth rate of 7 per cent, surpassing the International Monetary Fund’s projections. The Federal Government is focusing on tax system reforms, inflation reduction, and improving the business environment to achieve this target.

Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, highlighted these efforts during the 2026 IMF-World Bank Meetings in Bangkok. He emphasized the government’s 'Nigeria Rising' narrative as a reflection of ongoing economic reforms.

Oyedele stated that the reforms are intended to communicate positive changes in Nigeria and counter international perceptions that do not align with the country’s economic progress. He noted that the tax system overhaul was a key part of the reform programme, completed within two years.
