Ms Mary-Brenda Akoda, founder of GenScan AI, has called for increased funding and institutional support to promote the adoption of local innovations.

Akoda warned that without sufficient funding and institutional backing, Nigerian patients may not benefit from homegrown medical technology.

She emphasized the importance of international funding and collaboration with healthcare institutions to complete clinical validation and secure regulatory approval for GenMRI, her new invention.

Akoda stated that GenMRI has the potential to reduce MRI scan time by up to 90 per cent.

She highlighted international funding institutions such as the Gates Foundation, Development Innovation Ventures Fund, and Global Innovation Fund as potential partners.
