Financial Planner Warns 30-Year-Olds Against Three Common Mistakes

Financial planner Patrick Baah Abankwa has warned Ghanaians in their 30s to avoid three financial traps that could hinder wealth accumulation before turning 40. He highlighted that many professionals face challenges in building long-term financial security despite earning more as they advance in their careers.
The first trap identified is the tendency to increase expenses alongside income growth. Abankwa noted that individuals may end up saving little as their spending rises with earnings, making it difficult to accumulate wealth.
To mitigate this, Abankwa advised workers to invest at least 50 per cent of every salary increase before upgrading their lifestyle. He also mentioned that rising lifestyle costs, unplanned financial support for extended family, and keeping money in low-interest accounts are other common pitfalls to avoid.
