Egyptian Firms Survey Gaza Sites for Green Rafah Project

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Egyptian Firms Survey Gaza Sites for Green Rafah Project

Egyptian construction firms have surveyed sites in Gaza for the 'Green Rafah' project, according to sources. The initiative involves examining areas in eastern Rafah under the supervision of the Israeli army and air force, who accompanied the engineers throughout the process.

Rafah was previously home to approximately 250,000 Palestinians, known for its local markets, refugee camps, and green spaces. The proposed neighborhood is expected to initially house around 20,000 Palestinians and be supervised by a multinational force under the Sharm el-Sheikh peace agreement.

A second Egyptian source linked to the Organi Group confirmed that the company received instructions to send a team to Rafah to survey a site for residential buildings. The source also mentioned that debris removal and construction operations are likely to begin after the Israeli elections to avoid affecting the vote.
