Nigeria Expert Calls for Digital Health Expansion

A public health information systems expert has emphasized the need for Nigeria to rapidly adopt digital health solutions in both public and private healthcare settings. This move is intended to enhance data-driven decision-making and improve overall health outcomes.

Mr. Bright Ibezim, Unit Head of Health Informatics at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), stated that the increasing dependence on data-driven decisions has made the implementation of health information systems essential for the country's health sector.

Healthcare providers can enhance the quality of care by effectively utilizing historical medical data from Health Information Systems (HIS), such as Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), Laboratory Information Systems, and Radiology/Imaging Information Systems.
