ECOWAS Judges Commit to Integrity and Efficiency

New ECOWAS Court judges have committed to upholding judicial independence, integrity, and impartiality, with a focus on delivering effective justice. The new college of judges pledged to strengthen collegiality and ensure timely resolution of cases.
Justice Brumskine, the Hon President, congratulated her colleagues on their appointment on 13 October 2026, emphasizing the need for a deep understanding of the ECOWAS legal framework, court procedures, and jurisprudence.
The Hon President outlined three key priorities for the new judges: maintaining independence and integrity, fostering collegiality, and enhancing the effectiveness of judicial processes. She stressed the importance of fairness, impartiality, and rigorous decision-making.
Justice Brumskine also called for addressing delays in case resolution and aligning judicial activities with the Court’s Strategic Plan 2026–2030 to improve the timely delivery of justice.
