Malaysia Continues Search for 54 Missing in Nepal

Malaysia remains committed to locating 54 missing individuals in Nepal following the Rasuwa disaster, despite Nepal's shift to recovery operations. Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan confirmed ongoing efforts through the embassy in Kathmandu, collaborating with local authorities and municipal officials.
A Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team was deployed to Nepal from September 5 to 11, equipped with nine drones. However, challenging terrain restricted the search's effectiveness, highlighting the difficulties in accessing remote areas.
The search efforts include analyzing registration records and phone signals to trace missing persons. Globally, 5,285 people remain missing, with 636 being foreigners, underscoring the scale of the challenge faced by international teams.
