NANS Alleges Tax Clearance Dispute Amidst Student Complaints

NANS alleged that some students were being charged between N8,000 and N10,000 for tax clearance despite providing proof of their parents' tax compliance. The association's claim was supported by a petition submitted to OIRS by the NANS Joint Campus Council, JCC, Osun Chapter, on October 8, 2026.
According to NANS, affected students reported being able to proceed with registration immediately after making fresh payments, even though they had already submitted evidence of parental tax compliance. This led to claims of delays in verifying existing payment records.
NANS instructed affected students to stop paying the disputed tax-clearance charges while continuing to pay tuition fees and other undisputed charges. The revenue agency has denied the allegations, stating its verification process aims to confirm tax compliance and prevent fraudulent documentation.
