IMF Forecasts Nigeria’s Inflation to Drop to 15.6% in 2026

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that Nigeria’s annual average inflation will decline significantly to 15.6 per cent in 2026, according to the latest economic assessment. This forecast indicates a notable reduction from the 23.0 per cent average inflation recorded in 2025.
Analysts at Coronation Asset Management have aligned with the IMF’s projections, estimating that Nigeria’s annual average inflation will reach 14.56 per cent in 2027, closely matching the multilateral lender’s forecast.
The anticipated slowdown in inflation is attributed to persistent tight monetary policy and a gradually stabilising foreign exchange regime, which have started to ease price pressures across major consumer categories.
