Nigeria Prioritizes Local Firms in Energy Projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed international oil companies (IOCs) to prioritize Nigerian engineering and manufacturing firms in major energy projects. This directive aims to boost local participation in the country's oil and gas sector.
The initiative includes the development of compressor stations to enhance the capacity of the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System. These stations are essential to achieve the pipeline’s full gas delivery capacity of 2.3 billion standard cubic feet per day.
The project is expected to improve gas supply to power plants and industries, while also increasing exports to neighboring West African countries through the West African Gas Pipeline. This could generate additional revenue for the region.
