Man Gets 40-Year Sentence for Spying on Notorious Militia Leader

Sunday Frank has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for spying on the late notorious Benue militia leader, Terwase Akwanza, known as Gana. The Federal High Court in Abuja handed down the sentence on Thursday, October 22, after Frank admitted guilt to the charge.
The court mandated that Frank's sentence begins from the day of his arrest. Additionally, upon completing his prison term, he will be required to participate in a rehabilitation and deradicalisation programme.
The federal government claimed that Frank gathered intelligence on security agent movements and shared it with Gana, covering areas in Benue and Taraba states. Frank rejected counts 1, 2, and 3, which involved alleged abductions, but accepted responsibility for count 4, which involved providing information to the bandit leader.
