Grey CEO Proposes Credit Access via FX Paychecks

Grey, a cross-border payments company backed by Y Combinator, aims to help remote workers access credit by leveraging foreign currency salary records. The initiative seeks to address challenges traditional lenders face in assessing professionals with international income sources.
Idorenyin Obong, Grey’s co-founder and chief executive officer, discussed the plan during an interview on the Moonshot Podcast. He highlighted that many remote workers struggle to establish creditworthiness due to limited visibility into their foreign earnings by conventional credit bureaus.
Obong stated Grey intends to use income and transaction data from the past six years to develop credit services tailored for these workers. The approach aims to bridge a gap in how creditworthiness is evaluated for individuals earning salaries in foreign currencies.
