APM Challenges Shehu Buba’s Eligibility for Bauchi Governorship Race

In 2027, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), the ruling party in Bauchi State, filed a lawsuit against Senator Shehu Buba Umar, a candidate for the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), over his eligibility to run in the Bauchi State governorship election.
The APM is seeking a court ruling on whether Buba’s involvement in the PRP governorship primary and his selection as the party’s candidate adhered to Sections 77(4), 77(5), and 77(6) of the Electoral Act 2026.
Legal counsel for the APM, Barr. Jidauna Tula, stated that the suit was filed to ensure justice and fairness, with the aim of securing a judicial interpretation of the Electoral Act’s provisions.
