Australian MP Undergoes Double Amputation After Car Attack

Australian MP Helen Haines has undergone both leg amputations following a deliberate car attack. Her husband, Phil Haines, confirmed the procedure, stating that her left leg was removed on Monday and her right leg was amputated today.
Phil Haines expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support the family has received since the incident. The attacker, identified as Mr. Nugent, has appeared in court, where his legal representative mentioned his client's rare neurological condition and concussion.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack on an Australian elected official. Mr. Nugent's lawyer stated that he suffers from idiopathic transverse myelitis and is also being treated for concussion.
