China-South Africa Trade Surpasses $15 Billion Amid U.S. Concerns

Bilateral trade between China and South Africa reached nearly $15 billion, marking a 24% year-on-year increase, according to recent reports. This growth is attributed to China's zero-tariff policy for African exports, which facilitates duty-free access for South African goods.
South African exports to China rose by 25% to $5.3 billion, with agricultural shipments increasing by over 35%. Meanwhile, imports from China grew by 23% to $9.47 billion, reflecting the deepening economic ties between the two nations.
China's Ambassador Wu Peng emphasized the benefits of the zero-tariff initiative, while South Africa's Trade Minister Parks Tau encouraged businesses to take advantage of this duty-free access. Despite concerns about U.S. trade relations, South Africa continues to strengthen its economic partnership with China.
