Court Halts Trial Over Charge Sheet Dispute

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Court Halts Trial Over Charge Sheet Dispute

On October 19, a three-member panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice Noble Nkrumah, decided to pause the trial until the appeal on the charge sheet is resolved.

The court emphasized that the charge sheet is central to the trial and that any challenge to it must be resolved before proceeding.

The court stated that the charge sheet forms the basis of the trial, and any challenge to it must be addressed before the trial can continue.

The Attorney General argued that the Court of Appeal made a mistake in allowing a challenge to the charge sheet to halt the trial, as it would hinder criminal proceedings.

He claimed that this approach would allow accused individuals to delay trials by raising any challenge against the charge sheet.
