Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa disclosed he loaned money to nearly 60% of MPs and ministers during the 10th Parliament. He revealed this during an inter-religious thanksgiving service on October 23, 2026, while criticizing legislators for poor financial habits.

Tayebwa stated his money-lending business thrived during his first term in the 10th Parliament, fueled by earnings from earlier business ventures in South Sudan. He emphasized the need for legislators to invest wisely in joint ventures.

Tayebwa claimed he loaned money to 250 MPs, highlighting the widespread nature of his financial dealings with legislators. He urged current MPs to avoid similar poor saving practices.
