Federal Government Launches WHEAT-NESS Initiative to Enhance Nigerian Wheat Value Chain

The Federal Government will launch Project WHEAT-NESS to bolster Nigeria’s wheat-based consumer foods industry and enhance sector competitiveness. This initiative targets optimizing the wheat value chain, increasing domestic value addition, and improving cost competitiveness within the industry.

Mrs Ifeoma Williams, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Industry, confirmed the statement released on Tuesday in Abuja. The initiative addresses industry challenges and unlocks opportunities for growth.

The launch event, scheduled at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, will convene government officials, industry stakeholders, financial institutions, researchers, and development partners. Enoh emphasized that the project will strengthen local production, processing, enterprise productivity, and market access while improving coordination across the wheat-based consumer foods value chain.
