FG Denies Withholding NLNG Dividends for States

Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state, alleged that the federal government is withholding N250 billion in Nigeria LNG (NLNG) dividends for each state in the federation. The claim was made during a speech at the 2027 Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Engagement in Ibadan.

The presidency has denied the claim, with Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, calling the assertion false. Onanuga urged the public to disregard the claim, stating it defies logic.

Makinde also mentioned that Oyo State had already identified projects to expand its economy. The disagreement highlights a dispute over the allocation of NLNG dividends, with the federal government asserting they are not withholding funds.
