Ghana’s Petroleum Revenue Surges 52% in First Half of 2026

According to the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), Ghana’s petroleum revenue rose by 52 per cent in the first half of 2026. This increase is attributed to higher crude oil prices and increased corporate income tax collections.
Mr Richard Ellimah, PIAC Chair, presented the Committee’s 2026 Semi-Annual Report on the Management and Use of Petroleum Revenues, covering January to June 2026.
Mr Ellimah emphasized that the revenue growth was primarily due to higher crude oil prices rather than a significant rise in production.
He called on the Ministry of Finance to promptly transfer any revenue above the benchmark to the Ghana Petroleum Funds, in line with the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, 2011 (Act 815).
