Hanna Lake Dries Up, Threatening Tourism

Hanna Lake, a once-popular tourist spot near Quetta, is experiencing severe water shortages, leading to its gradual drying up. This has caused stretches of cracked earth where boats once sailed, impacting local tourism and livelihoods.
The lake, located approximately 18 kilometres from Quetta, was renowned for its scenic beauty, boating activities, and migratory birds. However, recent conditions have deteriorated significantly, disappointing visitors who expected to see one of Balochistan's natural attractions.
Sardar Hameed Khan reported on October 21, 2026, that the prolonged water shortage has left Hanna Lake in a state of decline, raising concerns about the sustainability of local businesses reliant on tourism.
