IMF and World Bank Launch Global Cyber Fraud Framework

The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, with Bank of Thailand coordination, introduced the 'Bangkok Blueprint' to address cyber-enabled fraud in digital financial services. This framework targets rising fraud threats amid expanded digital transactions.
A joint statement highlighted that digital financial activity has grown substantially, yet sophisticated cyber fraud has increased alongside it, posing significant global risks. INTERPOL ranks such fraud among the most threatening crimes, comparable to drug trafficking and money laundering.
The initiative aims to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber fraud through coordinated international efforts, emphasizing the need for enhanced security in digital financial systems as fraud methods become more advanced and transnational.
