JCI Decline Linked to Market Sentiment

The government has stated that the recent decline in the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) is due to negative market sentiment. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that the market's downturn is a natural response to unfavorable sentiment.
On Monday, the JCI faced a volatile session, dropping below the 5,000 threshold at the opening. It later recovered slightly to close above the mark. The index fell 223.23 points, or 4.31 percent, to 4,961.88.
The downward pressure on the JCI followed an announcement by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) about potential reclassification of the Indonesian capital market to a "standalone market" status.
