Makinde Campaign Challenges Tinubu Over NLNG Dividends

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Makinde Campaign Challenges Tinubu Over NLNG Dividends

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has rejected the Tinubu Presidency’s reaction to claims by presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, that about ₦250 billion in Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) dividends owed to states is being withheld by the Federal Government.

The MDPCO accused the Presidency of avoiding the core of Makinde’s allegation, stating that its response did not offer verifiable financial records to clarify the amount received from NLNG, the approved distribution, and whether the funds due to the states had been released.

The campaign organisation urged President Bola Tinubu to clearly state whether the disputed dividends had been paid to the affected states and to provide official records confirming such payments. It also argued that Nigeria operates a constitutional democracy where public officials are accountable for their decisions and the management of public resources.
