Nigeria Police Warn Against Online Scams

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a warning to citizens about investment fraud, romance scams, and sextortion, urging them to adopt safer online practices. Cybercriminals are increasingly using digital platforms to defraud unsuspecting victims.
AIG Akaninyene Ezima, director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, emphasized the importance of public education in reducing cybercrime. He stated that preventing citizens from falling into fraudsters' traps would ease the work of law enforcement agencies.
During a cybercrime awareness event in Abuja, Ezima highlighted the need for citizens to understand online risks and protect themselves. He noted that tackling cybercrime requires more than arrests and prosecutions.
