Nigeria’s Inflation Drops To 14.63% In Sept As Food Prices Fall

Inflation in Nigeria fell to 14.63% in September, driven by a significant decline in food prices. This marks a notable improvement in inflation dynamics, with annual food inflation moderating to 19.59% from 20.16% in September 2025.
The slowdown in annual price growth offers some relief to households and businesses facing high living costs and elevated operating expenses. However, price pressures persist, particularly in non-food components of the consumer basket.
On a month-on-month basis, headline inflation dropped sharply to 0.06 percent in September, down from 0.71 percent in August. This decline suggests a considerable slowdown in the pace of price increases during the review period.
