The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) announced the suspension of its indefinite strike following new agreements with the FCT Administration (FCTA).

Teachers and other education officers were directed to return to work on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, after negotiations resolved issues related to promotion, career stagnation, and the redeployment of school directors.

The union demanded the removal of vacancy restrictions on promotion, reconsideration of eligible workers for the 2025 promotion examination, and withdrawal of redeployment and demotion letters under the Harmonised Retirement Age for Teachers Act, 2022.

During the strike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, enforced a strict 'no work, no pay' policy for striking workers.
