Petroleum Minister Links LPG Price Rise to Border Closure

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that the closure of the Pakistan-Iran border is a key factor contributing to the surge in LPG prices. The minister made this claim during a session of the National Assembly on October 23, 2024.
A calling attention notice, jointly moved by Ms Aliya Kamran, Shahida Begum, and Naeema Kishwar Khan, highlighted the public concern over the sharp increase in LPG prices. The notice urged the minister to address the issue of urgent public importance.
Malik mentioned that efforts are currently underway to secure LPG supplies through alternative routes, such as the sea route, to mitigate the impact of the border closure on fuel availability.
