Tanzania has expressed satisfaction with the World Bank's $8.8 billion development portfolio, highlighting the government's intent to enhance collaboration in energy, transport infrastructure, and human capital development.

Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar made these remarks during discussions with outgoing World Bank Executive Director for Africa Group I, Zarau Kibwe, at the 2026 annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group in Bangkok.

Mr. Omar noted that the partnership has enabled the financing of strategic projects and expanded electricity access, while supporting infrastructure development crucial for economic growth.

He also mentioned Tanzania's involvement in the Mission 300 initiative, which seeks to broaden electricity access throughout Africa.

According to Mr. Omar, Tanzania has received nearly $6 billion in IDA-20 financing, with $2.54 billion allocated under IDA-21, alongside financing commitments surpassing $760 million, with additional projects in the planning phase.
